There are roughly 4,200 religions in this planet. How can one soul not be confused? The Bible goes with numerous versions, various interpretations. Personally, I know people who do not believe with the gods of presented religions. There are even folks who do not believe there is a god at all. But the Bible, no matter what our faith dictates, is a tool for goodness.
Here are the reasons why:
- The Bible teaches us to LOVE
Loving makes this world go round, indeed. Without love this world will be in chaos. Let us love so deep that the image of our neighbors never change. Just as how the Father loved his Son, and how the Son love the people. All as told in the Bible.
But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5
Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14
If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,” you are doing well. James 2:8
2. The Bible teaches us HUMILITY
Simply by honoring the presence of the Father in the old testament and Jesus Christ in the new testament, we are taught that there is something greater than us. Humans, gifted with free will and intelligence often neglect this fact. And when we recognize the examples the Bible is trying to relay, we become humble, respectful creatures.
You have given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your humility exalts me. Psa 18:35
When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom. Prov 11:2
3. The Bible teaches us KINDNESS
Kindness, among other values, changes one’s life. When offered kindness, who can not return the favor? I actually think it’s the missing piece in all these inner wars. We should be kind to ourselves if we want to be able to do kind things to others. Then the chain will go on and the cycle continues and this world will be a better place.
…Now, if you are going to show kindness and faithfulness to my master, tell me; if not, tell me, and I will go elsewhere.” Gen 24:49
forgive, I pray Thee, the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of Thy kindness, and as Thou hast borne with this people from Egypt, even until now. Num 14:19
4. The Bible is the guide towards REAL RIGHTEOUSNESS
Righteousness can be misleading. I consider it as an subjective or relative value. If you were raised in a way that killing is acceptable to achieve peace, that is what you will believe is right.
The Bible guides us to learn the true righteousness. Consider the ten commandments as the “Guideline of a Lifetime” and it will keep you on the right track. The parables and other stories in the Bible can also serve as additional lessons for our understanding of righteousness.
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Gen 7:1
So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me. Gen 30:33
Blessings to everyone!
